This a recent new feature in Thetford - a floating restaurant on the Little Ouse in the town centre. Restaurant specialities in Thetford include English, Chinese, Indian, Portuguese, pasta, Thai, and Turkish. There are also several cafés (English and Portuguese), fish and chip shops, takeaways etc. There is a McDonalds drive in restaurant on the edge of town.
Thetford is well served by superstores, although mainly located on the edge of town, they include Tescos, Sainsburys, Currys, Great Mills, Icelands, Gateways, etc. However, Thetford is a small town, and does not have a large shopping district. The City of Norwich, 40 km from Thetford is a very good shopping centre with two modern shopping malls, and a much larger shopping district.
