Patinated long flake at Two Mile Bottom Thetford
Showing the ventral side of another longish flint flake from the site of Survey 39 at Two Mile Bottom, in Thetford Forest. You can see again, the remainders of a flat striking platform, and a clear point of impact - good knapping. This one has that nice blueish patination. Patination is not always an indication of date, it occurs when flint has been in contact with alkaline solutions or by some humic acids originating from the roots of certain species of plant.
